Newsletter: Happy Chanukah

December 19, 2022  ·
Hi Friend,

Chanukah is upon us! As we get excited about bringing a renewed sense of light and warmth into our space, I have been thinking about the beauty of the candles that we light as ritual so often each year. One candle in the darkness is incredibly brave. Without the first candle, you can’t see where you’re going, and without the first one, you cannot light the rest. But that first candle also lives in a state of constant precariousness—its small flicker reminds us that with one gust of wind, it can be blown out. Then I think of the final night, when all nine candles are burning together. With all nine, you can put your hands near and feel their warmth. Each one individually is so delicate and fragile, and yet it only makes their combined presence and light more awe-inspiring.As humans, we cannot wish away our own fragility. We are all subject to things as menial as bad days or as difficult as grief, and it does us no good to pretend we don’t want to cry, or scream, or give up. And yet when we see these candles standing together, we can recognize that being perfect and steadfast in every single moment is unnecessary to be strong, when we stand with each other.I invite you to join in community with me throughout the end of this year and into the new one.Yours,

Maggie Feinstein Director10.27 Healing Partnership
