Families Bridging Kindness is a group formed by family members and survivors of the 2018 Synagogue Shooting. In the days and months following the shooting they received hundreds of cards, letters, and items of comfort from people around the world. While initially overwhelming, these gestures helped immensely with their healing process through providing an ongoing wave of kindness and reminders that love always triumphs over hate. They created their group, Families Bridging Kindness, to share the kindness and generosity they received from the world with others who have suffered similar traumas.
Mishloach manot, or Purim gifts, are given during this time of year in the spirit of connection and solidarity to combat division and differences. For four years now, Families Bridging Kindness has baked hamantaschen to give back to the people who have helped them on their journeys or who need some care and comfort. We are proud to stand alongside them as they continue to reach out to others with compassion, empathy, and hope. This year, Families Bridging Kindness made approximately 170 hamantaschen to deliver to community members across Pittsburgh.
