Screening of “It Couldn’t Happen Here” hosted by Virtual Senior Academy

Join Virtual Senior Academy for a screening of “It Couldn’t Happen Here,” a documentary play about Pittsburgh and Squirrel Hill in the aftermath of the 10.27.18 attack. It aims to tell a fuller story of what it means to live in and be a part of the Squirrel Hill and Pittsburgh communities.
Squirrel Hill playwright and Congregation Dor Hadash member Carrie Mannino developed this play as her senior thesis at Yale University. The play was selected for the Yale Playwright’s Festival, and included in a portfolio for which she won the Yale Marina Keegan Playwriting Award.
The play consists of verbatim language from interviews, articles and public statements. This virtual performance is an edited staged reading with a large cast of individuals connected to Pittsburgh. The performance will be screened via Zoom, and there will be a limited in-person screening at the JCC. There will be a brief discussion with Mannino after the film screening.
