10/27 Commemoration Torah Study with Hazzan Matthew Austerklein

Course Title: Songs of Ascent: Musical Paths to Healing after Tragedy 

Hazzan Matthew Austerklein is a prayer leader, musician, and scholar. His essays on Jewish music, theology, and cantors have been featured in the Journal of Synagogue Music, Times of Israel, and the Hebrew College Community Blog. Matt is the editor of three books, including Ilu Finu: A Cappella for Jewish Prayer (2019).

Torah Study is part of the third year commemoration honoring the lives lost and the people affected by the attack on three Pittsburgh synagogues – Congregation Dor Hadash, New Light Congregation, and Tree of Life * Or L’Simcha Congregation – on October 27, 2018 (18 Cheshvan 5779). 

All sessions will take place on the Zoom platform and will each be 50 minutes in length. 

Pre-registration for specific sessions is required.  You will be sent a zoom link for each session you register for, 24 hours prior to the session. 

Sessions will take place during six timeslots, on both the English and Hebrew commemorative dates, featuring the following instructors and topics:
