Volunteering: Caretaking of Local Jewish Cemeteries
The 10.27 Healing Partnership invites you to join us in service and in spirit to honor the eleven people who were killed in the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting on October 27, 2018. We will build connections and bring light into our communities while uplifting their memories and legacies.
This commemorative volunteering project is in partnership with the Jewish Cemetery and Burial Association of Greater Pittsburgh (JCBA). JCBA is dedicated to preventing the future abandonment of Jewish cemeteries through providing dignified burials to Jews in need and preserving Jewish cemeteries in accordance with Jewish laws and customs. This volunteering project will include activities like raking leaves, cutting grass, moving soil, cleaning gravestones, and collecting branches and other debris. Join us to both reflect on how we take care of the legacy of those who have passed while also connecting in camaraderie with your fellow volunteers.
This program will take place from 10am-1pm on October 26th at Beth Abraham Cemetery. It is open to all ages. Many of the tasks require full mobility; this project is not ADA accessible. Lunch will be provided.
