Day of Healing: Commemorative Self-Care
As we anticipate the fifth year commemoration of Oct. 27, 2018, join us at the JCC in Squirrel Hill for a day of wellness, self-care, and healing. On Oct 25th from 10am-5pm we will be hosting a variety of wellness opportunities for everyone to enjoy for free, including yoga, group improv, acupuncture, reiki-infused sound bathing, and an open arts studio. All members and non-members of the JCC are welcomed.
Schedule for the day:
The Open Arts Studio will be open, staffed by art therapists from Jewish Family and Community Services, from 10:00am-2:00pm
- At the open arts studio you are welcome to make whatever sparks your imagination, bring along a project you are working on, or participate in an offering we will be providing. No previous experience in art needed; just bring yourself and some curiosity.
Group improv with Emily Harris of Spirited Fun Improv will begin at 11:00am
- Group improv builds community through laughter, connection, and creativity
Reiki-infused sound bathing with Shawn Fertitta will be held in two sessions. One session will begin at 12pm, and the second will begin at 2pm.
- Reiki is a Japanese practice of energy healing. Reiki-infused sound bathing pairs reiki with a meditative sound experience including gentle bells, gongs, and singing bowls.
Acupuncture with Peter Braasch (registration required) will be from 1pm-4pm
Trauma-informed Yoga with Susie Balcom will be from 4pm-5pm
Registration for acupuncture is full. Thank you for your interest! If you would like to access free acupuncture, please check out our Wellness Wednesday program on November 1st.
