Torah study topic: “Reading Tanakh through the Lens of Trauma”

Many of our biblical texts were composed during periods of collective trauma in ancient Israel’s history. We will engage with a few biblical passages through the lens of trauma theory to extract new insights regarding these classic materials.

Dr. Tamar Kamionkowski has served as professor of Biblical Studies at RRC for 25 years. Her publications and academic interests include Jewish biblical theology, Leviticus, Ezekiel, gender studies and trauma studies. Tamar holds Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School and a doctorate in Near Eastern and Judaic studies from Brandeis University.
