December 2024: Happy Holidays

February 4, 2025  ·

Hello Friend,

The staff of the 10.27 Healing Partnership wish you a warm and happy holiday season!

The timing of the holidays this year feel fortuitous to me. Since Jewish holidays follow the Hebrew calendar, they fall on different dates on the Gregorian calendar every year. This year, Chanukah starts on December 25th and ends on January 1st; it begins at the same time as Christmas, ends on New Year’s Day, and coincides with Kwanzaa in the middle. Last Shabbat marked the winter solstice, an astronomical event that impacts us all, regardless of religious background or holiday observance.

It brings me comfort in this time when things feel both literally and metaphorically a little too dark that so many of us in these weeks will be worshipping, celebrating, and being with those dear to us. When people are participating in their unique rituals at the same time I feel a collective pause, a shift in energy away from the normal and everyday.

Whether the holidays are a difficult time for you or a time that brings you peace and warmth, I hope you can also take comfort that there are so many others going through this with you. As always, I believe through community we can build resiliency. I hope wherever you are that you can reach out to the community around you, as we pass through the winter solstice onto longer days with a little more light.

In Solidarity,
Maggie Feinstein
