Hello Friend,

The 10.27 Healing Partnership was started in response to the October 27, 2018 antisemitic mass shooting in Pittsburgh. Our mission is to attend to the needs of the community that was impacted, including survivors, family members, congregations, and neighbors.

Because of the nature of our organization, it can sometimes be unclear who we are designed and prepared to support. Our work encompasses supporting our broad community. We hope to make everyone who could benefit from our services more aware of the diversity of the people that we serve.

One of the core aspects of our mission is to be here for those who are feeling the ramifications of hate-based violence in our world. We are hearing the varied experiences of those who are feeling the impact of acts of antisemitism, from Michigan to Australia, that have happened in the last few months. We are here for you, whether that means listening or helping you find whatever support you are looking for.

After 10/27/2018, it became clear that one of the core factors that helped people return to a feeling of safety, to find meaning even in the midst of grief and rage, was connection with others. When we have a strong social network, all of us, whatever our pain may be, are more resilient. When we self-isolate or tell ourselves that we shouldn’t take up space or time with our emotions or struggles, we can hurt both ourselves and our communities. It is a part of being human to be impacted by traumatic and tragic events, and we all deserve care. Here, there are no expectations for how you “should” feel or respond. We are here for you.

We support our entire Pittsburgh community with trauma-informed programming that supports mental, creative, and social wellbeing and our drop-in center for empathetic listening and connection. No matter your faith or background or how you find us, we welcome you to our space on the third floor of the Jewish Community Center of Squirrel Hill. We hope you will find sources of connection, healing, and rest here.

In Solidarity,
Maggie Feinstein
