A Community Conversation: Where Do We Go From Here?

The Community Conversation will be co-hosted by Repair the World Pittsburgh, 1Hood Media, and World Affairs Council Pittsburgh and it will take place virtually on the evening of November 5th.
This conversation will be happening around the commemoration day and the yahrzeit day of the 2-year mark of the 10/27/18 synagogue shooting that impacted the three congregations worshipping there: Dor Hadash, Tree of Life * Or L’Simcha, and New Light. The official date and time for the conversation is Nov. 5th from 5:30pm-7:00pm. 1 hour will be spent engaging in conversation and there will be a 30 minute period of questions. Confirmed panelist include: Prof. William Carter, Benjamin Gutschow, and Dan Leger. Our moderator is Symone Saul.
In this upcoming conversation, the panelist will be having an open discussion about white supremacy and antisemitism in our country and community and how we can create change and build coalitions. Topics may include gun violence, anti-immigration policy, white supremacy and anti-racism work. What changes do we want to make/what do we want to see happen? How do people talk to one another ?and engage each other in the community across differences? What are our goals for the next year in how to keep each other safe, including how we talk to each other, what we do about gun violence; how we protect ourselves against white supremacy; how we can change policing so that our community feels like a safer place.
